How much can I earn in bonuses?
Each approved contractor business can earn up to $6,000 total. You can receive $1,000 for each installation, up to six (6) installations.
If I install both a heat pump water heater and a heat pump HVAC system in one home, how much can I earn?
You can earn $2,000 for the installation of both heat pump appliances. This means you can receive $1,000 for the water heater and an additional $1,000 for the HVAC system, as long as both meet program requirements.
How many contractors can participate in the program?
At this time, the pilot program is limited to 15 contractor businesses. The application will remain open past 15 contractor business applicants to collect a waitlist for potential future program expansion.
Does a customer have to apply for the EcoHome Rebate for me to receive the Contractor Install Bonus?
No, a homeowner does not need to apply for the EcoHome Rebate for the contractor to receive the bonus. However, contractors are strongly encouraged to share this program with their customers before the project begins so they can save money on their project—making it a win-win for both.
Will my customer automatically receive an EcoHome Rebate when I participate in this program?
No, your customer must apply for the EcoHome Rebate program and have their application approved before the equipment is installed. Your customer must submit a claim after the installation is complete. SJCE can help make sure you provide your customers with everything they need to receive a rebate.
How will I receive my bonuses?
Bonus payments will be processed through the City of San José payment system and will be sent by direct deposit (ACH) or a check mailed to your business address.
What if I do not complete all six (6) installations?
You don’t need to complete all six (6) installations, but any eligible projects must be finished within your one-year participation period to qualify for the bonus. Bonuses will be paid out after each claim submission.
