EVs can save you $6,000 to $12,000 of dollars over the lifetime of the vehicle through savings on fuel and maintenance costs. Even with the increased cost of electricity at public charging stations, charging an EV costs about half as much as filling up a gas-powered vehicle on a per-mile basis.
EVs require less maintenance and have fewer moving parts than gas powered cars. That means no oil changes, less regular maintenance, and you’ll benefit from longer-lasting regenerative brakes.
EV drivers can enroll in special electricity rates that provide lower cost electricity during off-peak hours, like during the day when there is an abundance of solar energy available or at night when there is less demand. PG&E Used EV Rebate
PG&E offers income eligible customers $4,000 and $1,000 to all other customers towards the purchase or lease of a used EV in the form of a post-sale rebate.
Clean Cars for All
The The Bay Area Air District offers income eligible customers that retire their older vehicle between $7,000-$12,000 towards the purchase or lease of a clean air vehicle, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and EVs, or a pre-paid card to use for public transit or e-bike purchases.
Driving Clean Assistance Program
The State offers income-eligible customers living in specific neighborhoods of San José $7,500 towards the purchase or lease of a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or EV without needing to retire a vehicle, plus a $2,000 charging incentive.
Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit
The Federal Government offers residents and businesses a tax credit for installing charging infrastructure at a qualifying address.
PG&E’s Residential Charging Solutions Program
Get a $700 rebate toward a home EV Charger through PG&E. Depending on income, you could get up to 100% off the purchase price of a PG&E-approved Level 2 charging unit. The program covers the charger and installation.
Clean Cars for All
The Bay Area Air District offers Clean Cars for All grant recipients up to $2,000 in additional funding for a level 2 home charger installation and up to $1,000 for level 2 portable charger for your new or used EV.
PG&E Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Residential Pilot
PG&E offers up to $3,000 in upfront incentives and up to $2,175 in additional performance incentives when you charge your EV when electricity is less expensive, use your EVs stored power when electricity is more expensive (4-9 p.m.), and by sending electricity to the grid during times of high demand.
Communities in Charge
The California Energy Commission provides incentives for the installation of Level 2 EV chargers. Project sites located in a qualified Multifamily Housing site or a Tribal community may qualify for increased funding.
