Most San José residents and businesses are enrolled in GreenSource, SJCE’s standard service. With more renewable energy than the state average, GreenSource reflects the innovative and forward-thinking culture of Silicon Valley. Our customers can seamlessly take advantage of cleaner energy at competitive rates.
The energy content consists of 60% renewable energy and up to 95% carbon-free power. Non-renewable carbon-free sources are a combination of large hydroelectric and nuclear, the proportion of which will be confirmed by the end of 2023.
The remaining 5% is California grid system power. This electricity comes from unspecified sources, such as electricity traded through open-market transactions, that aren’t traceable to a specific generation facility. They may include renewables and hydroelectric.
Customers who wish to stay in GreenSource do not need to take any action. For those interested in making a bigger impact on climate change, you can upgrade to TotalGreen for 100% renewable energy. You can also return to GreenSource service at any time.
