Grow Your Business with the EcoHome Contractor Install Bonus

Contractors are essential partners in helping San José move toward cleaner, more energy-efficient homes—and San José Clean Energy (SJCE) is investing in their success.  

As more customers choose electric home appliance upgrades, there’s a growing opportunity for contractors to expand services, attract new customers, and stay competitive. The EcoHome Contractor Install Bonus is designed to help installers do just that—support our community’s transition to clean energy through heat pumps.  

Eligible contractors who have completed fewer than three (3) EcoHome Rebate heat pump projects can earn $1,000 per qualifying heat pump installation, up to a maximum of $6,000 total. The bonus applies to heat pump water heaters and heat pump HVAC systems—helping San José homes switch from gas to cleaner, more energy-efficient electric alternatives.

Recognition for “High Road” Contractors 

If a business meets certain criteria for safety, training, wages, and benefits, they can be highlighted in the EcoHome Network directory with a yellow “High Road Contractor” label. The label can help values-driven customers access contractors who support good jobs in our community, safety, and local quality. To qualify for the label, contractors must show proof of three residential heat pump projects and submit documentation verifying they meet the qualification criteria. The High Road Contractor Label helps customers identify contractors who meet program standards. Customers are responsible for choosing their contractor, and the City is not responsible for contractor performance or services provided.
